How to Cancel Peloton (App, All-Access, or Both)

Peloton has three things that look like the same bill but aren't: the App subscription ($12.99), the All-Access membership ($44/mo, required if you have a Bike), and Bike financing. Cancelling the wrong one is the #1 reason Peloton charges keep showing up after you 'quit'.

Financing isn't a subscription

If you bought your Bike or Tread on a 0% financing plan through Affirm or Citizens, those monthly payments continue even if you cancel All-Access. Cancellation stops the subscription only - the hardware loan keeps running until it's paid off or you sell the bike.

Step-by-step: cancel Peloton

  1. 1

    Identify which subscription you have

App-only ($12.99/mo): managed at members.onepeloton.com → Account → Subscription. All-Access ($44/mo): same path but shows 'All-Access Membership'. iOS App Store sign-ups: managed only in iPhone Settings.

  2. 2

    Go to Account → Membership

On members.onepeloton.com (web only - the bike screen and Peloton app don't show a cancel button). Click 'Cancel Membership'.

  3. 3

    Choose 'Cancel' (not 'Pause')

Peloton aggressively suggests Pause (up to 3 months free of charge) on the way out. Pause auto-resumes - if you want to leave for good, click 'No thanks, cancel'.

  4. 4

    Confirm the final access date

Access continues until the end of the current billing cycle. Save the confirmation email - Peloton emails it within 5 minutes.

  5. 5

Cancel via App Store if you signed up on iPhone

If your App subscription shows 'Billed by Apple', the only way to cancel is iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Peloton → Cancel. The website cannot stop App Store billing.

If Peloton keeps charging you

Live-chat support first

members.onepeloton.com → bottom-right chat bubble. Reference your cancellation email and ask for a refund of the post-cancellation charge. Peloton refunds ~85% of these without pushback.

Chargeback through your bank

Reg E dispute citing 'subscription cancelled, merchant continued billing'. Include the confirmation email as evidence.

Send a demand letter

LeakGuard Pro generates a Peloton-specific letter referencing your cancellation date, the FTC Negative Option Rule, and your state's automatic-renewal law (CA AB-390, NY GBL § 527-a, etc.). Most charges reverse within a week.

Step-by-step cancellation letter

Copy this and send to Peloton support. Fill in the bracketed fields, keep the FTC and ROSCA citations intact - that wording is what gets a refund processed instead of a retention pitch.

  1. 1. Replace every [bracket] with your real info.
  2. 2. Send from the email tied to your Peloton account.
  3. 3. BCC yourself so you have a timestamped copy for any chargeback.
  4. 4. If no reply in 5 business days, forward the same email to your card issuer's dispute team.

1. Notice of cancellation
I am writing to terminate my Peloton subscription effective immediately. Treat this email as my written cancellation notice. Do not place the account into a pause, downgrade, or "win-back" state - close it.

2. Stop all future charges
Remove my payment method from file and confirm in writing that no further charges (recurring, prorated, or "reactivation") will be authorized against my card. Per the FTC Negative Option Rule and ROSCA (15 U.S.C. § 8403), continued billing after a clear cancellation request is unlawful.

3. Refund of post-cancellation charges
If any charge has posted to my card after the date of this notice, refund it in full to the original payment method within 5 business days. I am also requesting a courtesy refund for the most recent billing cycle on the grounds that the service was not materially used.

4. Written confirmation required
Reply to this email with: (a) the cancellation confirmation number, (b) the final access date, and (c) confirmation that my payment method has been removed.

5. Escalation
If I do not receive written confirmation within 5 business days, I will (i) file a Reg E billing dispute with my card issuer, (ii) submit a complaint to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov, and (iii) file with my state Attorney General's consumer-protection division under applicable UDAP statutes.

Thank you for handling this promptly.

FAQ

Can I cancel Peloton All-Access if I still have the Bike?+

Yes, but the Bike loses all interactive content - no live classes, no leaderboard, no metrics tracking, no on-demand library. You can still ride it as a 'dumb' spin bike or use third-party apps like Zwift via Bluetooth. The hardware financing is separate and keeps running.

Can I transfer my All-Access to another household?+

Yes - All-Access is per-bike, not per-person. If you sell the Bike, the new owner can register and start their own $44/mo membership. Your old membership cancels when you remove the Bike from your account.

What about Peloton's 30-day home trial?+

Bikes purchased after 2023 include a 30-day home trial. Return the bike within 30 days for a full refund including delivery. All-Access membership refunds for the trial month too.

Does cancelling delete my workout history?+

No - your stats, achievements, and class history are preserved indefinitely on your Peloton account. If you re-subscribe later, everything is still there.

Will LeakGuard cancel Peloton for me?+

LeakGuard Pro drafts the cancellation request and tracks whether your refund actually lands. For straightforward web-cancellations the in-app button is faster; we shine on post-cancellation billing disputes and App Store cancellations.
